Welcome

At Rensselaer, the responsibility for oversight and management of the student employment function is a collaborative process between the Controller's Office, the Offices of Undergraduate and Graduate Education, the Departments where the students are working, Financial Aid, the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) and Human Resources. The departments have the responsibility for managing information regarding student employment opportunities, supporting students in finding employment, working with supervisors and acting as the liaison to Institute business offices. The Controller's Office, in partnership with the departments, is responsible for maintaining compliance with government and federal regulations including I-9s and produces paychecks, W-2s and manages applicable tax regulations. You are encouraged to contact any of the offices outlined with questions regarding student employment at Rensselaer. In general, the Controller's Office (Payroll) should be your primary contact for any questions regarding student employment at Rensselaer as we will refer you to other appropriate offices as necessary. Human Resources, the Payroll Office and employing departments are responsible for ensuring that all employees, including student workers, are paid in accordance with federal and New York State laws.
